Do I need to get undressed?

When it comes to standard, or relaxation, or what is known as “Swedish massage”, there is universal process amongst massage practitioners in North America. You will be requested to undress to whatever level you are comfortable. The majority of clients decides to undress completely or maybe elect to leave on their underclothing, and some keep on most of their clothes. Whatever you decide, the massage practitioner will certainly behave in a professional manner, and will provide you with a comforting experience, regardless of your level of undress. Some clothing might, however, obstruct the natural flow of the stroke, and preclude the usage of certain techniques.

The massage therapist leaves the room and gives you adequate time for you to undress. You get on to the table underneath a sheet to cover yourself. Throughout the massage therapy, only the part of your body getting worked on will be uncovered. When it is necessary to change your lying position during therapy, the therapist will first ensure that you remain appropriately covered and then inform you how to proceed (such as turning over). Our massage therapists are all well-trained in draping methods.

In case you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the massage, you should notify the therapist right away.

What if I don’t wish to undress?

Other styles of massage like shiatsu do not require to undress. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of finger pressure massage.

Your therapist will make recommendations for your condition to support your progress.

Massage therapy is an excellent method to relax, alleviate discomfort and pain, and help you deal with stress and fatigue while pregnant. Massage therapy is one of the ideal natural treatments for management of chronic problems and prevention of health problems. Routinely scheduled massage treatments are particularly important since many medications that are considered relatively safe or appropriate to manage these symptoms and discomforts (such as pain killers, anti-inflammatory, laxatives, sleeping pills) are generally not encouraged (or maybe not desired) during pregnancy.

Many insurance plans provide great coverage for massage therapy by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).  An insurance receipt will be given following each treatment for reimbursement. Should I tip?

In Ontario, massage practitioners are regulated under the Health Practitioners Act-the same legislation that regulates physicians, dentists, nurses, chiropractors, and so on. Physicians and other health care professionals never receive any tips, and many registered massage therapists do not receive any tips from their clients.

It should be noted however that tipping for registered massage therapy varies depending on the type of facilities providing massage therapy services. Some RMTs who work at spas or salons, providing relaxation massage in particular, receive tips on a regular basis.
